Citing people involved in the company's plans , the newspaper stated Amazon announced plans to explore the hardware business in June , and the phone will start shipping in September , ahead of the holiday shopping season . Amazon itself has not responded to the report .
The phone is rumored to be using retinal tracking technology embedded in the four front-facing camera , or sensor , to make some images appear three- dimensional , similar to a hologram , without the need to wear special glasses . Seattle-based company hopes this feature will enable its products stand out in the crowd in a competition dominated by Apple and Samsung .
On Twitter a technology analyst Kurt Marko says : " So the battle of ecosystems have been established ( with ) Amazon entered the mobile phone market . Wildlife which will flourish : Amazon , Apple , or Google ? "
